Tuesday, April 1, 1862
Parker was yet sick so as to be laid up
I was taken with Diaraea wors at evening
could not attend Mrs Herds funeral Wednesday
Edmond drew out some Poles to Put on fenses
Sow piged nin pigs
Warm and thawy
 
Wednesday 2
Mrs Herd was buried Mary Edmond and Saly Attended
I was with Parker at Home unwell
Douglasses children all Staid Here while they Attended the funeral
thawy
 
Thursday 3
I choped foller all day
Edmond and George drew Hay four load
I went and caried Mrs Montgomery Home she had ben Here washing
 
Friday, April 4, 1862
I coped in foller
 
Saturday 5
Harvy Pike come Here visited PM Staid over night
 
Sunday 6
Was at Home all day
Stafford and Isabel was Here nere night
 
Monday, April 7, 1862
I choped in the foller
Edmond drew out some wood
Ugene choped and Helped Douglass into the Shugar Bush commensed taping
had the first cow come in
Snow yet deep
 
Tuesday 8
I was choping all day
Edmond was drawing out wood that ugene choped
Parker came home from Aunt Mariahs and the Docters
got some medison of Guy
Weather verry cold
 
Wednesday 9
I choped
Edmond worked in the shugarbush taped sixty trees
Sap run well in the PM
The snow deep but little bare ground
when you Look South you can see no bare ground
Look north you can see some
 
Thursday, April 10, 1862
I choped in the follow
Edmond worked in Shugar bush made the first sweet verry little thin surip
Douglas and George worked in the bush
Some thawy
 
Friday 11
I was choping in follow
Boys shugering
good sap weather
Eugene helped in the Bush for Douglass
Heard of a great Battle at Pittsburg
 
Saturday 12
I choped in Follow
Edmond and George worked in Sugarbush a good sap day
Andrew sent me ten dollars in a letter and wished me to hand Five of it to his mother
 
Sunday, April 13, 1862
I went to Staffords to let them know that Thirsey Montgomery was Dead
She Died at Matson Merwins on Friday and was carried to Masonville on Saturday
I came home from Staffords with Headache
 
Monday 14
I choped in Follow and Helped Eugene Split wood
he choped in PM
Edmond worked in bush with George
Perker went to Mill did not get his grist
Had one lamb of the Oxfordshire
Snow going fast
 
Tuesday 15
I choped in AM
Safford Helped cut sled crook
He and Edmond split wood PM
I went to Mr Freemans and Mr Mayhurs [Mayhew?]
Got Stove dore mended
had another Ox Lam come
fine warm weather
 
Wednesday, April 16, 1862
Helped Edmond Split wood some
chored some
went and drew out wood for My Lyons to chop
Had a buck Lam come the last of the Oxferdshire Lambs I expect
the Snow going fast
 
Thursday 17
Worked at Splitting wood apart of the
Edmond put up some fense in PM
I went and Helped Draw Barn to Heringtons and paid Miss Rockwell the Four
Dollars Andrew Sent Hir

I was at Home
Safford and Isabel was Here
 
Monday 21
was Stormy
I split wood a little while Just at night
 
Tuesday, April 22, 1862
I Choped in follow
Safford Helped Edmond Split wood
Parker drew out some wood that Eugene Choped
 
Wednesday 23
I finished Choping follow
Parker finished drawing out Eugenes wood
 
Thursday 24
Edmond and I finished Spliting wood for sawing
I went just at night to Mr Mahues
got one Shoe Set on Old White
Parker was yet much afflicted with His Head
 
Friday, April 25, 1862
Built fense and loged
Picked up &c in the follow whare we are to sow Oats
Parker Helped some in the PM
Edmond went to Green drew Five Hundred Plaster three bushels
Lyme and one bbl Salt
 
Saturday 26
Finished fensing follow with Edmond in the AM
I went fishing in the PM got Four good Trout and some mill fish
Edmond picked up in follow
 
Sunday 27
Was at home till PM
went to Schoutan School Hous expecting to Here Mr Wright
got disappointed there was no meeting
 
Monday, April 28, 1862
Commenced Sowing wheat and Oats
Sowed the new land with seven bushels and more than half drged
Edmond and Eugene and Parker sowed wheat and grass seed
My Lyons got two Pigs at two Dollars each
 
Tuesday 29
Finished draging new land
Plowed garding & the Pach north of the shop
Eugene and Edmond finished sowing wheat and sowed a small piece of Oats north
 
Wednesday 30
Eugene Edmond and Parker sowed and drged in oats to Lorensos
Eugene sowed Twenty Six bushels and one half
I planted Potatoes in garding
